How To Deal With Self-limiting Beliefs.

As human beings, we always have dreams and goals which we would like to achieve. The truth is that most of these goals and dreams are usually so great that they seem impossible to others, and sometimes to the goals-setters and dreamers themselves, but they aren’t.

During the processes of coming up with ideas on how to face the tasks up ahead, we unknowingly develop two very powerful, but contradictory “beings” in our minds. “And what are these two supposed to be?” Some may ask. They are, the Will Power and the Inner Critic.

By looking carefully into these two, you will realise that one of them will Build You Up and the other will Tear You Down.

Since we are dealing with self-limiting beliefs, we will mainly talk about the Inner Critic, what it does and how to stop it.

NOTE.

Even though both the Will Power and the Inner Critic develop together, they are built on different foundations, one being on hope for the future, while the other on detrimental experiences of the past.

The Inner Critic will always try to keep us in our comfort zones, because it knows that what we are about to do is not going to be easy therefore, it will always be on the move to stop us. Under the note section, I mentioned that the Inner Critic’s foundation is our past experiences which were not very favourable to us, right? Right. These experiences might have either affected us physically or psychologically, and they will always cause us to limit ourselves according to them. So this means that the Inner Critic is like a demon; taking advantage of us by using our most vulnerable states in life, but fear not for I have compiled a set of the most common limitations we weigh ourselves down with, together with their realities as positive pathways out of them. Therefore breaking the window closing us in.

  • I DON’T HAVE MONEY.

It is true that you may not have enough money, but you are human and you can always find a way on how to get some. Some of your goals may depend on it.

  • THE TIMING OF THIS OPPORTUNITY IS WRONG.

If you are waiting for the right time, you’ll never be ready. The time to act is now, and one thing I know is that, once opportunity comes knocking on your door, that is the right time, seize it!

  • IT’S TOO HARD AND I’M NOT STRONG ENOUGH.

Yes it hard, don’t expect it to be easy because it won’t. You may not be strong enough but you can get strong! Don’t give up!

  • I DON’T KNOW THE RIGHT PEOPLE.

Okay, this may be true, and that’s why I advise you to network. Use the social media for this and it won’t be a time waster. Search for people who will influence you positively. You may even find out that some of these people are already what you want to become, so follow their steps and even go an extra mile be seeking advice from them. Seek and ask; you’ll get what you want.

  • I’M NOT OF THE RIGHT AGE.

Age is just but a number. As long as you are able to set goals, you can pursue them.

Remember, there is always a way out of any other self-limiting belief we set upon ourselves. Just be positive.

Before we end this chapter, there is something you need to know. The stronger the Will Power gets, the stronger the Inner Critic also gets. This means that we have the Power of Choice, where we can choose to silence one of them. So we must choose wisely. By that I mean, SILENCE THE INNER CRITIC.  The reason why I’m using “silence” is because we cannot eliminate it totally, but we can  “suppress” it. How?

“All the days of our life, we should find it wisest to focus on what is beautiful and good, and as little as possible, on the evil and false.”

Thank you for reading this, and I wish you the best of luck throughout this week.
